We believe that every child deserves the joy of a childhood spent outdoors.

Trails for Kids is nature’s classroom — we learn through play, exploration, and hands-on discovery of the outdoors under the attentive care of our qualified and passionate educators.  Children hike, wade, track, explore, and practice mindfulness while developing connection with the natural world.

Our goal is to nurture confident, compassionate, environmentally conscious learners who are prepared for lifelong learning.

What We Do

IMG_9184.JPEG

Our mission is to deliver an inclusive program for children of all socioeconomic backgrounds based on direct nature interactions to encourage their physical and emotional social wellbeing.

These experiences will promote and instill tolerance, provide social environmental justice and inspire future land stewards.

Each day we embark on a new nature-based adventure filled with curiousity, joy and rich-learning experiences.

Our passionate educators support learners to develop a sense of community, autonomy and self-esteem through risky-play, hiking, unstructured play and structured-learning.

Our Approach

Immersive Learning

IMG_2583.JPEG

Immersive learning environments allow children to learn and explore the world first-hand through interactive, embodied experiences that result in multi-disciplinary learnings. With the support of our experienced educators children are encouraged to take agency in their own learning and development and follow their innate curiosity to learn about the world around them as they observe, hike, play in mud, climb, balance and more.

Empowerment and Play

Nature-based play builds children's confidence, social-emotional intelligence and resilience as they explore the environment and the four seasons through nature-relevant topics, games, stories, art and music. Children explore the natural world with agency while measuring risk and learning to listen to their own bodies.

We respect every child as a unique individual with boundless potential, nurturing their innate curiosity and unique path of growth and development. Children explore STEAM-based topics that relate to their immediate, natural environment. Learning is age-appropriate and tailored to the individual needs of each child and their class group.

Connection to Nature

IMG_2330.JPEG

Children explore the world around them with open eyes and hearts, full of curiousity and joy for learning. We have time to ask "why" and explore the answer together. A childhood spent in nature inspires joy, curiosity, freedom, emotional connection and a deep, genuine appreciation for nature and the wider world.

Our daughter's experience at T4K was truly wonderful. We saw tremendous growth in her independence, confidence and overall development during her time there. The teachers were patient, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable, creating a nurturing enviornment where all children can thrive and explore. We highly recommend this school to any family looking for a meaningful nature-based learning experience.

Parent, Homeschool Program

This has been a wonderful experience for my 6 year old son. He has been with T4K for 3 years and it has been wonderful to watch him grow and thrive in the forest. He loves being outside and we couldn't have found a better forest school for him. The teachers are warm, nurturing, welcoming and supportive. Watching our son build resilience and a genuine love of nature through every season has been one of the greatest gifts of his childhood.

Parent, Pre-K, Kinder & Homeschool Program

This is the only activity my child goes to without ever complaining.
The knowledge is age-appropriate & he always tells me what he learnt that day.
